Quiet Gifts of the Year

“Quiet Gifts of the Year”

As a child, I was always taught that thank-you notes are an appropriate way to show gratitude for the gifts we are given and the acts of kindness shown to us. I can still hear my mom asking me if I wrote out my thank-you notes after holidays, birthdays, and special events. So, as the days grow shorter and another year begins to settle into memory, I find myself gathering the small things. The moments that warmed me, the people who showed up, the ordinary blessings I might have hurried past. Before turning toward what comes next, I want to pause here—with a grateful heart—for these gifts of 2026.

So thankful…

  • For the morning light, finding its way in.

  • For the earth beneath my feet, even when my footing felt uncertain.

  • For the familiar faces that return to the yoga room.

  • For the new ones, brave enough to begin.

  • For the breath that asks nothing of me, yet offers so much.

  • For the garden—its abundance, its disappointments, its invitation to try again.

  • For hands that plant something they will have to wait to see.

  • For conversations that wandered past the time we meant to leave.

  • For laughter that arrived just when I needed it.

  • For the people with whom silence feels comfortable.

  • For meals made with care and room for one more.

  • For the quiet courage of starting over.

  • For the wisdom to rest before everything is finished.

  • For the tenderness that remains after a difficult season.

  • For music that reaches the places words cannot.

  • For the small kindnesses whose givers may never know their reach.

  • For the changing seasons, each with something to teach me.

  • For the moments I remembered to put down the phone and look.

  • For this community, and the many ways we care for one another.

  • For the unfinished beauty of this life, and the chance to meet it again tomorrow.

May you find a few quiet moments to gather your own gifts of this year. Some may be small enough to fit in a single breath. They still count.

One Last Thing Before I Go…

Happy Thanksgiving!

 Until next time.
